A Helping Hand

This week's poem was requested as an answer for feeling burnt out, tired, and not having strength to make it through. This poem was written for the one who requested it, as well as myself, to be reminded that even on the days when our legs give in, there is a helping hand from above that lifts us to our feet. With any poem I write, I draw from personal experience and expression, and plant it in a way that I hope can help and others. When the sand weighs us down, when it feels like there is nowhere to move, please remember that the tides will roll in to refresh and restore, for a comfort and release.

With love,
Rachel

A Helping Hand

I felt the ground give in
my legs could no longer stand
when I fell to my knees
in the soft, powdery sand
my feet were stuck
I could not get up
until the waves rolled in
a gentle hand
an answer to my cry
wiping the ocean mist
wiping from my eyes
I could feel the sand slip away
my feet could finally move
the One whom the seas praise
gave strength to my knees
I knew I was not alone
even on the days I didn’t feel free
strength gathered in my bones
through the endless sea
a helping hand
He is the only One
who can make me stand.
