// augustus favourites
hey y'all,
I thought I would share a five of my favourite moments and memories from this month.
btw a little heads up, it's all my opinions, nothing is sponsored (yet, hah) and I'm plainly doing it because it really IS my favourites. Hope they will bless you too in some sort of way.
favourite new experience
my uncle is a farmer, he owns a handful thousand pigs and even more fields. Currently it's reaping time, and because of the wet weather here in Denmark, they're a bit behind schedule, which means working night and day, whenever it's dry enough between the wet clouds, anyways, it was my uncle's birthday, and my aunt wanted to surprise him a little through the long shifts out in the fields, so my mom (his sister) made their favourite childhood cookies surprised him on his birthday. He was quite happy about it.
Later on we cooked dinner to all the hard workers, and brought it out the hunters cottage, that were close to the fields they we're reaping. When we we drove out there, there wasn't room for everyone in the car, so me and my cousin would sit back at the pickup, and my aunt surprised us and drove so fast, that things were almost falling of. My mom snapped some photos of me while I was trying not to fall off & get my hair out of my face, as you can see above.
That was really fun, and you can say that was my new favourite experience too, but I wanted to share with you another one; my mom grew up a farmers girl, and since I didn't she thought it was very important I had to experience some farmer-life.
So while we were out on the fields, I climbed into my uncle's big big reaping machine and sat alongside him while he was reaping. (the last photo, it's hard capturing the whole seen with a small iPhone camera.
Sitting up there and looking down at that big machine with those big sharp knives was quite an experience. There were even some ducklings that almost was slaughtered by the big machine, but finally managed to fly away.
I think I'm gonna call this favourite new experience for the farmer experience.
Have you ever been in one of those big reapers? (i'm calling them reapers because I don't know the proper english words for them, and I'm currently too tired to look it up, hah)
favourite candy
in Denmark licorice is very popular, especially the more salty ones / salmiak - at least they're my absolutely favourite, but you can buy them in all sorts of shapes, sizes and types.
And lately I'm really really liking heksehyl. It translates to witchcry or witchscream. weird, I know.
but they're sooooooo good!
and yes, I biked all the 300 meters to the grocerystore just to buy some heksehyl to take this shot for this blogpost.
and know I have to eat them, poor me, haha.
favourite body positive instagrammer
Allie, the girl behind "just do you, babe!" - & the instagram handle @allisonkimmey.
She's so full of bubbles, sparkles and glitterstripes.
unlike many body positive instagrammers out there, I always leave her account feeling a little better, she doesn't dwell on the bad comments, she's all about positivity & she's a master of turning the bitter into sweet. & not to mention her versions of #donthatetheshake.
In my opinion she's definitely bringing something unique and beautiful to the whole bopo-community. & if you don't know what glitterstripes is, that's just the bigger reason to check her out. Knowing what glitterstripes is, have changed the game for me.
If you're a parent, you'll find the adorable and wise conversations with her daughter (and son) very informative and good, when it comes to talking about body image and body positivity with your kids. I've picked up some good stuff I know I will use when I'll have kids one day.
So thank you, for being YOU babe!
favourite small business
@hiptipico is a do-good shop who help artisans in Guatemala. They sell beautiful handmade products out in the world and help the artisans earn a proper salary to help them make a living - good living.
this brand really inspire me and their beautiful, authentic and hip products make me swoon. I've already put a few of these beauties on my wishlist. I'm already looking for a good, but pretty backpack and I'm dreaming of that one on the first photo!
And unfortunately my wallet was stolen, so the pretty wallets made made the beautiful woman with the big smile is also a tempting choice. I'd really recommend checking their instagram out, they're not only making quality, handmade products that are beautiful, they also have a really pretty instagram that makes you wanna buy all their stuff. Take my word, and check them out.
You can read more about them and their story here.
favourite instagram august post(s) by me
I couldn't choose, so here's my two favourites..
I made this out of my moms flowers, wild is a word speaking to me in this season & writing the word in the wild, made a lot of sense to me. the photo was even featured in two stories, which is a first and made me pretty happy!
I found this handmade sign, when I was walking a dog in Wales. I just had to capture this beauty, which reminds me of a secret garden or maybe a secret gate to Narnia?
that's all for august.
